As we all know, the Grand C-Max is a slightly longer and taller version of the C-Max, which itself is a slightly longer, taller and wider version of the Focus it is based on. This means the Grand C-Max never quite feels like a highly targeted MPV that’s been built with families in mind.

It feels compromised. Which isn’t something you could say about the Citroen Grand CPicasso. The back end of the seven-seat Grand C-Max is a little frumpy because of its higher roof line, but the regular C-Max is a study in ideal proportions. The roof slopes more steeply in the five-seat car and gives a more coupe-like silhouette, cutting neatly off at the rear screen.

The trapezoidal grille works very well on this car, in combination with the hawkish headlights, and only the small. This gearbox is also fitted in the 1. Compare the Grand C-Max with other seven-seat MPVs, and you might be a little disappointed by its practicality. Yes, the second row of seats can slide, recline and be folded down and away in a variety of configurations, but the middle seat of the three is narrow and har making life rather uncomfortable for whoever sits on it.

The two rearmost seats, which fold up from the boot floor, are. The interior is designed with high quality materials and the sliding doors make for easy access to the cabin. The family friendly layout of the Grand C-Max means it is likely to sell more models than its smaller sibling, the C-Max.

If you want enhanced practicality without needing seven seats, you can. Comment: I have only driven around locally so far no more than 45minute drives but the car is lovely to handle and so much easier to park with all the parking assistance aids. The latter offering sliding rear doors and a larger, seven-seat interior for those that need it.
